Things I won't eat

  • Apr. 23rd, 2008 at 10:21 PM
foodz
condiments
salad dressing
butter (I'll bake with it but not ever on bread etc)
water chestnuts
fish
actually, all seafood
curry
pretty much any cheese except cheddar or parmesan
canned meat
any type of jerky
fennel
anything else licorice
tapioca
sweet pickles
eggs!
yogurt
sour cream

I feel like there should be more. A lot of these are due to my aversion to weird textures.

Re: said with love and open arms
You should have seen the paragraph I deleted, with justifications for why I will not eat these things!

American cheese is an abomination unto us all.

American cheese is not cheese! I refuse to put that nastiness in the same category of food as real cheese.

Crap- that was supposed to be a reply to above. I'm pretty picky about my cheeses too.

But, anyway, regarding the salad dressing, do you not eat salads at all?

Actually, I really love salads.

OOH! Curry! I totally forgot about curry. That too.

I love that I inspired other people to make lists and after reading them I've added about 10 things to my list. Tapioca too. And black licorice. Ooh, and cilantro.

Does cilantro taste soapy to you?

A little. Mostly it just tastes bad.

I can see how some of the things go together - you don't seem to like slimy textures - tapioca, yogurt, sour cream. And licorice/fennel I get too. But why not eggs or sweet pickles? I'm curious!

Yes, slimy textures! That's a great way to put it. I just don't like the taste of sweet pickles. I've been trying to get back on board with eggs, since they're such a great protein source, but I just have this aversion to them.

whoa. What do you like to eat?

A good steak, rare.
Vegetables -- oh, I love vegetables.
Really good bread.
Mashed potatoes.
Green chile anything.

Lots of things! I freely admit that I'm pretty picky, though.

The way cilantro tastes to people is a genetic thing. It depends on your genes. To me it tastes good, to other people, it tastes like soap.
